Specialized Course in Corporate Strategy: Understanding and Managing Intangible Assets

From November 5 to 22, 2024, Mayora IP and Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) are jointly offering a specialized course aimed at professionals, entrepreneurs, and officers interested in the realm of innovation and intangible asset management.

This course will delve into the critical concept of intangible assets—non-physical assets like patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Participants will learn how to manage these assets effectively, protect their ideas, and leverage them as valuable business resources.

Through interactive modules, the course will cover essential topics such as:

-Innovation: Understanding the creation of new ideas, products, and processes.

-Trade Secrets: Exploring confidential business information that provides a competitive edge.

-Patents: Learning about exclusive rights granted to inventors for a limited time.

-Licensing: Discussing the process of granting rights to use intellectual property.

To illustrate the impact of intangible assets on business valuation and competitiveness, the course will analyze notable case studies, including Duolingo—a language-learning app that has successfully utilized intellectual property to establish itself as a global brand.

The course will be led by experienced professionals from Mayora IP, including Santiago Mayora, Hugo Rivas, and Mariana Murillo, alongside experts from UVG: Alvaro Figueredo, Isabella García, and Lourdes Figueroa.
