Can I protect the code with which a mobile app was developed?
By E.C.V. & ASOCIADOS
Keep in mind that, in the case of apps, the protection falls specifically on the code that was developed to create it, not on the total set of the app, which includes other elements.
If you registered the code of an app, you can start a legal action only if another product on the market copies the lines of code you developed. However, if someone else develops an application with the same functionalities and purpose, but with a different code, it is not feasible to take a legal action by appealing to copyright protection.
Therefore different apps that have the same functionalities and purpose can coexist as long as neither have copied the software used for their development.
