KFC and local restaurant reach agreement regarding trademark

By E.C.V. & ASOCIADOS

KFC Venezuela, a local branch of the American fast food restaurant chain, settled a trademark dispute with a Venezuela based churro chain after the use of a slogan.

Churromanías, an international franchise of churro stores, legally warned KFC for the use of its protected trademark "Una manía para chuparse los dedos", a catchphrase related to fingers licking good after a meal at the restaurant.

KFC quickly publicly apologized for the improper use of the trademark, eliminating the phrase from all its promotions and packaging materials.
