100% renewable energy to McDonald’s restaurants

By Mayora IP

Enel Green Power Guatemala (EGPG), the renewable energy subsidiary of the Enel Group in the Central American country, will supply 17.52GWh/year of sustainable power during two years to McDonald’s Guatemala.

The agreement that allows this renewable supply has been signed between EGPG and Cova Energy, a trading company created to represent McDonald's in the electricity market. It also represents other clients in this same market.

The renewable energy supplied under this agreement is equivalent to planting 421 thousand trees or avoiding the emission of 16,420 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

"This agreement confirms EGPG as a leading renewable energy partner for large corporate clients, supporting its commitment to the energy transition and the supply of sustainable energy to Guatemalans businesses", said José Sánchez, Country Manager of EGPG.

Enel Green Power develops and operates renewable energy plants worldwide and is present in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Oceania, with a generation mix that includes wind, solar, geothermal, and hydroelectric power.
