The Intellectual Property department of The National Center of Registries of El Salvador recently met with the Board of Directors of the Salvadoran Association of Intellectual Property (ASPI), to inform the results of the IP Office last year and management of intellectual property issues.
According to the report, 12,778.00 applications were filed in 2022 including trademarks, trade names, slogans and emblems in El Salvador, with most of them related to gastronomy and food products (17.94%), pharmaceutical industry (15.29%) and tourism and entertainment (13.96%).
The study, officially presented to the Salvadoran Association of Intellectual Property (ASPI), highlighted that 73.5% of the users of the national IP system have used the Automated Phonetic Search Service, a new tool that facilitates applicants to verify that the trademark they want to request is not similar, identical or confusing with already registered signs that name the same or similar products and/or services of the Nice International Classification.
