42,605 trademark applications during 2021

The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) of Peru received a record 42,605 trademark applications during 2021, an increase of 14.38 percent compared to 2020.

In addition, Indecopi’s trademark department granted 36,621 trademark registrations las year, an increase of 32.43 percent compared to 2020.

Indecopi’s 2021 statistic report included:

-Technical assistance for the filing of 1,054 collective mark applications.
-680 collective mark certificates granted, benefiting 3,765 families.
-1.149 trademark infringement complaints were processed.
-Closure of 269 virtual commerce platforms of infringed products.
