Along with other companies and organizations, the aim is to help promote chocolate production, increase its total exports, negotiate better international prices and continue the campaign towards an appellation of origin for Nicaraguan chocolate.
According to several studies, that recognition should be decisive to increase, in a short time, total annual exports from 6,000 tons to 40,000 tons.
“Our cocoa has a very high degree of fineness”, explained Guillermo Jacoby, president of the Nicaraguan Producers and Exporters Association (APEN). “We are one of the few countries in the world that is certified as fine cocoa. That means our genetics are really good”, he added.
