Advanced Electronic Signature
By Mayora IP
Users of Guatemala’s Registry of Secured Transactions have now more security in their operations and use of documents with the recent implementation of the Advanced Electronic Signature, a digital signature based on an advanced certificate uniquely identifying the signer.According to authorities, the new mechanism will strengthen security mechanisms and generate greater confidence in users of the Registry of Secured Transactions, which annually issues approximately 20,000 documents.
Since 2008, electronic signatures and documents are allowed and regulated in Guatemala by the Law for the Acknowledgement of Communications and Electronic Signatures. The Advanced Electronic Signature allows unique identification and authentication of the signer of a document and enables the verification of the integrity of the signed agreement. This authentication is typically accomplished through the issuance of a digital certificate by a certificate authority.
