Advancing investment and commercial ties with Israel

On September 1, 2019, Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández conducted a visit to Israel to inaugurate a trade office, which holds diplomatic status, in Jerusalem. President Hernández met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Prime Minister's Residence. “Today is a historic day for Honduras and Israel,” Juan Orlando Hernandez declared, moments after he and Netanyahu officially inaugurated the Honduran “Trade and Cooperation” office in central Jerusalem.

During the course of the visit, President Hernández also visited Israel's shipyards, and participated in a high-level economic meeting with leading members of Israel’s business community. This meeting took place with the goal of advancing investment and commercial ties between the two countries. 

"Israel welcomes the opening of this trade office and sees it as an important step towards the future move of the Honduran Embassy to Jerusalem, and the opening of the Israeli Embassy in the Honduran capital. Moreover, this step reflects the close relations between our two countries, and the warm friendship between our two peoples", the government of Israel stated in a press release. "This important visit will serve to strengthen relations between Israel and Honduras, and advance cooperation in a diverse range of fields", it added.
