Amendment to the Copyright Law

By Pittaluga Abogados

Amendment to the Copyright Law
On December 18, the Senate in Uruguay approved the amendment to the Copyright Law, which extends the period of post-mortem protection from 50 to 70 years, thus bringing the local regulations in line with those of Europe, United States and the rest of Latin America (with the exception of Bolivia).

It is also established that those works that to date have passed into public domain but have not yet reached the author's 70 post-mortem years, must return to the private domain until such term is reached.
