Argentina, next stop for the Liquid Gold from the Agave

"It will put us in a very interesting situation, because if we achieve Argentina, which would be the next objective, we would have covered all of Mercosur”, said Ramón González Figueroa, director of the CRT, after Brazil’s IP Office (INPI), officially recognized Tequila’s AO in that country. Paraguay and Uruguay had already granted the protection in their respective territories, therefore the CRT’s main goal is to cover Argentina and through it all four countries of South American trade bloc Mercosur.
Tequila is a Mexican liquor which takes its name from this city in the state of Jalisco where its production started more than two hundred years ago from the Agave plant. Tequila became Mexico’s first appellation of origin in 1974 and in 1978 it was internationally registered for protection under the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration.
