Argentina Streamlines Path to Becoming an Industrial Property Agent
By Estudio Chaloupka

The National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has streamlined the process for individuals aspiring to become Industrial Property Agents. This initiative aims to simplify access to the examination, accommodate various preparation methods, and encourage greater participation in the profession.
What Is an Industrial Property Agent?
An Industrial Property Agent is a professional authorized to provide advisory services in industrial property matters and to represent individuals or entities in filing, managing, and monitoring procedures before the INPI. This includes tasks related to trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and technology transfer agreements.
As of June 2025, under Resolution P-348/25, the INPI has introduced a more flexible system for obtaining the Industrial Property Agent registration:
-Self-Managed Preparation: Aspirants can independently prepare using study materials provided by the INPI or other resources.
-Mandatory Examination: Regardless of the preparation method, all candidates must pass a proficiency exam administered exclusively by the INPI.
-Online Procedure: The entire process, from registration to examination, is conducted online, allowing candidates to participate from any location.
In 2025, the INPI will conduct two independent examination sessions:
-First Session: November 5, 2025.
-Second Session: November 19, 2025.
A common retake session will be available later in the year for those who need it.
Upon passing the exam (or the retake), candidates can initiate the registration process through the INPI's online portal. The following steps are required:
-Affidavit Submission: Submit a sworn statement confirming the accuracy of the provided information.
-Payment of Fees: Pay the applicable fee, which includes the annual registration fee for the year of enrollment.
-Issuance of Registration: Upon completion, a registration number will be assigned, and a digital certificate will be issued, officially recognizing the individual as an Industrial Property Agent.
