Argentinian exports of knowledge-based services reached their highest historical level

Knowledge-based service (KBS) industry in Argentina is in its prime, having experienced a decade’s steady growth, driven by the outstanding talent of human resources, a favorable time zone, a good business environment and a high-quality local technological infrastructure.Architectural plans, legal and accounting consultancy work, software and mobile app development, web design, and film and video game production are just some of the many knowledge-based services that Argentina exports. Argentina is the world’s leading software developer and exporter, with more than 4,200 companies in the sector. Argentina is also a Latin-American referent in the area of agribusiness technology services and it is gaining ground in the FinTech and videogame industry.
All these services comprise almost 10% of total national exports and Argentina is currently the only country in the region that has a trade surplus in the KBS category. In the second quarter of 2022, $ 2,060 million in KBS were exported, 22.6% more than in the same period of 2021 and 19.2% more compared to 2019. It was the quarter with the highest KBS exports in history.
KBS employ medium- and highly skilled personnel and generate knowledge across the economy. KBS create high-quality employment and promote innovation and development. Today’s information and communication technologies (ICTs) mean that these services are easy to export.
