BKM Berkemeyer Celebrates 75 Years at Sunset Cocktail in Punta del Este

On the sidelines of the International Bar Association (IBA) Mergers and Acquisitions in Latin America Conference, BKM Berkemeyer marked its 75th anniversary with an evening cocktail hosted at I'marangatú, one of Punta del Este's most celebrated beachfront venues, set against the calm waters and legendary sunsets of Playa Mansa.

The choice of setting was apt. I'Marangatú is the first parador on the Mansa to open year-round, to offer evening dining, and to introduce daily sunset sessions — a concept that helped redefine the beach experience in Punta del Este.

Positioned front and center on the tranquil bay, it has drawn comparisons to the great beach clubs of the Mediterranean, with its calm waters and singular sunsets drawing visitors back season after season. As the Uruguayan sky turned gold over the Mansa, the firm's partners, clients, and friends gathered to raise a glass to seven and a half decades of legal practice in Paraguay.

Representing the firm at the event were Managing Partner Hugo T. Berkemeyer and Martha Villa de Berkemeyer, alongside partners Antonio Villa Berkemeyer, Hugo Alexander Berkemeyer; Milena Sljivich and Manuel Arias.

The gathering brought together clients and colleagues from across the region who had traveled to Punta del Este for the IBA conference, which drew more than 750 delegates and featured discussions on the evolving M&A landscape in Latin America.

The cocktail served as both a reunion and a reflection — a moment to acknowledge the firm's trajectory from its founding in 1951 as a specialized intellectual property boutique to the full-service institution it has become today, consistently ranked among Paraguay's most prominent law firms by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, and Latin Lawyer.
