Bolivia joins Mercosur as a Full Member State

On December 7, 2023, Luiz Inacio da Silva, the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, officially ratified the Accession Protocol of Bolivia to the Southern Common Market (Mercosur). With this, Bolivia attains the status of a Full Member State within the regional organization.
The protocol was ratified during the LXIII Summit of Heads of State of MERCOSUR and Associated States held on Rio de Janeiro.
With this signature, Bolivia is now required to gradually align its domestic regulations with those of Mercosur over a period of four years. This signifies a crucial step towards deeper collaboration and cooperation among the member states of Mercosur, fostering economic ties for mutual benefit. The integration of Bolivia into Mercosur holds the promise of enhanced regional stability and development in the years to come.
