Bolivia making its way to the Atlantic Ocean

Bolivia’s cargo will access preferences for tariffs, storage and infrastructure when using the Uruguayan port of Fray Bentos, according to a recent agreement singed by the port authorities of both countries.
Fray Bentos is the capital city of the Río Negro Department, located in south-western Uruguay, at the Argentina-Uruguay border, near the Argentine city of Gualeguaychú. Its port on the Uruguay River is one of the nation's most important harbours: it is 92 km from Nueva Palmira (starting point of the Parana – Paraguay Waterway).
Dante Justiniano, executive manager of Bolivia’s port administration (ASP-B), stated that the country will use Fray Bentos as a transfer point and overseas access to European markets through Bolivia’s Puerto Busch.
Located in the department of Santa Cruz, Puerto Busch is located directly on the Paraguay River and its river traffic remains national, with a major port under construction to give Bolivia a water route to the Atlantic Ocean.
