Breach by Inter Artis Peru collecting society
The National Institute for the Defense of Free Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) of Peru fined Inter Artis Peru collecting society for infringing the Copyright Law and the Artist and Performer Law.

The decision, issued by the Copyright Commission of Indecopi, is based on a breach by Inter Artis Peru, who did not submit the needed documentation to determine wether the rates set by the entity comply with the principles of reasonableness, equity and proportionality stated in the Copyright Law.

Likewise, it was determined that the rates applied by the organization had not been established in agreement with the videogram producers collecting society

Inter Artis Peru is one of the seven collecting societies that exist in the country and that are regulated by Indecopi, and it specifically deals with the rights of actors and other performing artists. Collecting societies are bodies with the authority to license copyrighted works and collect royalties on behalf of its members.
