CAN prepares to protect Country Brands

CAN prepares to protect Country Brands
The authorities of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) met at Lima, Peru, to work on a regulatory tool that can legally and effectively protect the Country Brands of its member countries.

The CAN is a customs union comprising the South American countries of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru that has no regulatory framework to regulate Country Brands. As adapting existing legal forms is too onerous, it is necessary to design a new legal instrument that allows effective, simple and economic protection.

Peru created its Country Brand in 2011 in order to attract investment, promote tourism and facilitate exports.
