Cars and vans top smuggled products into Bolivia

Between January 1 and July 1, 2022, the Bolivian National Customs carried out throughout the country 6,438 operations against counterfeiting, piracy and smuggling, seizing merchandise valued at more than US$ 55 million.The last operation of the semester was a surveillance procedure on the Bolivian border with northern Argentina, where US$ 70.000 of counterfeited products were seized. Among the products were flour, oil, canned beer, powdered milk, detergent and diapers that did not have documentation proving their legal importation into the country.
More than half of the USD 55 million seized by the Customs Administration was related to cars, vans and minibuses from well-known global brands like Chevrolet, Ford, Jeep, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen.
