The new testing center is based on the educational program "One Laptop Per Child" and aims to create contextualized educational applications for children. The initiative aims to increase productivity, competitiveness and social cohesion, and to develop innovation based on knowledge.
In this first stage developers and students from different universities will program applications for the XO, a potent laptop designed and built especially by "One Laptop Per Child" for children in developing countries.
Since 2009, 30,000 students from 104 schools in low-income neighborhoods in Nicaragua have received free XO computers through the One Laptop per Child program, offered through the Zamora Terán Foundation. Fundecyt-Pctex is a non profit organization based in Extremadura (Spain) with the aim of contributing to the social and economic exploitation of science and technology in Latin American regions.
