Significant changes have taken place in the leadership structure of the National Intellectual Property Service (SENADI), as well as in the composition of the Collegiate Body for Intellectual Property Rights (OCDI). These changes may have an impact on the processing of ongoing cases. In this context, certain matters may experience variations in resolution timelines or in the authority responsible for handling them.
New Acting Director General of SENADI
Elizabeth Ramírez Romero has been appointed as Acting Director General of SENADI effective March 25, 2026. Her background includes service on the Collegiate Body for Intellectual Property Rights (OCDI), as well as specialized experience in intellectual property advisory. According to official information, her appointment is aimed at strengthening innovation and the digital transformation of the intellectual property system.
Change in the Opposition Directorate
Additionally, Aracely Quingalombo has been appointed as the new Acting Director of the Technical Directorate for Oppositions. She brings over seventeen years of experience at the competent authority in intellectual property matters.
New Composition of the Collegiate Body for Intellectual Property Rights (OCDI)
As a result of Elizabeth Ramírez Romero's appointment as Acting Director General, the body is now composed of the following members:
-Sofía Camacho Oña
-Khristie Vera Guachambo
-Pablo Andino Fiallos
In light of this, it has been reported on an unofficial basis that pending cases before the OCDI will be reassigned through a new drawing of lots, as a consequence of the change in the body's membership. This reassignment may affect processing timelines and the continuity of proceedings.
