Clothing leads El Salvador exports
Half of the most exported products of El Salvador come from the textile industry, according to a report by the Information and Response Office of the Central Reserve Bank. T-shirts, sweaters, socks and underwear are among the 12 most sold Salvadoran products from 2006 to 2016.

The report states that El Salvador ended 2016 with total exports of USD 5,335 million, with maquila exports growing a yearly 3.8% and clothing at a robust 16.5%. "The textile industry had a performance of USD 1,744 million in 2006 and by 2016 it has reached USD 2,521 million, which is almost 47% of total exports," said to "El Salvador" newspaper Patricia Figueroa, director of the Chamber of Textile Industry, Apparel and Free Zones (Camtex).
