Cocoa production in the rise

“Prices for coca beans have been fluctuating lately, but now they are much steadier, around USD 1,772 per tonne, and they are expected to continue on the rise”, said Guillermo Jacoby, president of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (APEN).
Statistics from the Export Procedures Center (Cetrex) of Guatemala reveal that the last three years (2016, 2017 and 2018) cocoa revenues have increased due to better international prices, offsetting the decline of volume exported. Nevertheless, Nicaragua has kept its place as one of the top valued cocoa producers in the world, largely thanks to the rare originality and unique flavors of its beans.
