Connectivity and Productivity in Uruguay

IDB Invest is providing a USD 54 million loan to build, operate and maintain the Road Circuit 5. This project is among the largest launched by the country’s government to improve the national road network.The deal includes the mobilization from donor funds managed by IDB Invest. Overall, the project will design, build, rehabilitate, operate and maintain 184 km-long stretches of Route 14 (from Sarandí del Yí to the town of Lascano) and Route 15 (from Lascano to Velázquez), running through the departments of Rocha, Florida and Lavalleja, in South Uruguay.
IDB Invest is also providing a USD 46 million loan to design, construct, rehabilitate, operate and maintain a 78 km stretch (Montevideo-San Ramon) of Route 6 connecting with the Brazilian border. This route crosses the departments of Montevideo, Canelones and Florida. The 18-year financing deal will be completed with the participation of local and international co-financing banks and by the sponsor’s own capital.
The project is the seventh of seven public-private participation (PPP) initiatives driven by the Ministry of Transport and Public Work to improve connectivity and productivity in country as well as safety for road users.
