Consumer Protection Commission fines food company for failing to comply with the correct labeling of products
By Espinosa Bellido Abogados

Indecopi verified that in four products (homemade chicken burger, chicken paté, chicken ham and breaded chicken), the labels “did not reflect the true nature of the foods”, failing to inform consumers that, besides chicken, among the used ingredients are fat, pork meat and turkey meat. In the four other products (super meat burger, super chicken burger, breaded meat and homemade beef burger)
the full information was not visible and readable displayed on the front of the packages.
After the case, which took public repercussion, Indecopi recalled that distributors, manufacturers, traders and importers of products are responsible for the correct denomination, labeling, information and suitability of the products their set into the market, having the obligation to make available to consumers products that meet the requirements established by law.
