Cooperation agreements
The Peruvian National Institution for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) signed an agreement with the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of China, to promote the development of the intellectual property protection system, as well as improve and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in that area, to promote the development of science, technology and economy.

This signature took place during the 50th session of Assemblies of WIPO member states that took place in Geneva, Switzerland, in which the President of INDECOPI, Hebert Tassano V., and its Chinese peer, Tian Lipu, where in attendance.

Among the main commitments is the share of information, opinions and documentation about the latest developments of the intellectual property system and important matters of common interest, such as traditional knowledge and topics related to genetic resources, among other aspects.

It is important to notice that the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of China, based in Beijing, is in charge of all the regional offices from such country and is one of the most important Intellectual Property offices in the world, considering the high amount of patents that are recorded in such institution.

With this agreement INDECOPI looks to increase its coordination and cooperation capacities, in order to face different challenges in their daily activities, both operational and procedural.

INDECOPI also signed a cooperation agreement with the Mexican National Copyright Institute (INDAUTOR), which will promote the cooperation among science and technology experts, and training opportunities for both institutions.

Finally, INDECOPI also signed a cooperation agreement with the Dominican Republic Intellectual Property National Office (ONAPI), to allow studies and investigation projects in topics of mutual interest.
