Copyrights in Venezuela

The National Director of Copyright, Nurbis López, called all Venezuelan creators, artists and educators to register their literary, musical and artistic works. “The registration process is quite easy and fast. Our officials review all the requirements, which comply with the regulations and once complete allows creators to protect their works,” López stated during a radio interview. “The duration of the copyright is for a lifetime and passes to the public domain sixty years after the creator is dead, according to article 25 of Venezuela’s Copyright Law,” López added.

Since the beginning of the year Venezuela’s IP Office (SAPI) has participated in several conferences to provide advice and guidance for national students and creators.
