Costa Rica among the countries with the most female inventors

The highest ranked country in 2021 was Cuba, which exceeded the global average with more than half of all registered patent applicants being women in 2021. According to Statista, which based its report in data from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Cuba only irregularly reports figures to the WIPO.“Spanish-speaking countries were featured heavily among the top 10 and also included Costa Rica, Peru and Chile”, the report highlights.
Recent WIPO analysis have positioned Costa Rica above average in terms of innovation compared to the rest of Latin America. The country has high scores in institutions, human capital & research, infrastructure, business sophistication, knowledge & technology, outputs and creative outputs.
