Delikatessen or Gourmet. Legal and technical requirements for obtaining the Registration of Establishments and Sanitary Registration of Food Products

This provision defines “Delikatessen or Gourmet” products as those which have been prepared with special care and attention by putting emphasis on product characteristics, developing differentiators, thus ensuring a product of high organoleptic quality and limited supply, which has a higher quality than the preestablished, with a presentation (packaging) that conveys distinction and exclusivity, which makes it special in the eyes of consumers, making them willing to pay a higher price for this type of product.

Arrangements have been made to group the “Delikatessen or Gourmet” products in the following categories or headings:

Condiments and sauces
Cheese and dairy products
Meat, poultry and seafood
Prepared foods and soups
Agricultural food
Pasta, grains and legumes
Bread, crackers and snacks
Desserts, sweets and pastries
Beverages

These categories or items are only enunciative and not restrictive.

The resolution also provides that, for the granting of the relevant Registration of Establishment, the processors, packers and importers, who are categorized as “Delikatessen or Gourmet” shall comply with the legal and technical requirements set out in Resolution SG No. 361/2011, by which “it is repealed Resolution SG N ° 141 of March 31, 2008 “By which there were set out the requirements for registration of Establishment of food products and additives, approves the application form for authorization and renewal of said registration” and provides requirements for registration of food establishment, its renewal, general rules and forms and instructions for submission”.

It also establishes that the granting of Sanitary Registration of Food for the products considered “Delikatessen or Gourmet” will be made according to their composition, name and trademark.
