Development of a new national IP strategy

Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and María Luisa Hayem, Minister of Economy of El Salvador, signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of El Salvador’s National Intellectual Property Strategy.The agreement looks to to strengthen cooperation in the field of IP and WIPO's capacity building support. The Minister also briefed the Director General on El Salvador's IP and innovation agenda.
"We are implementing activities to strengthen our digital sector with the purpose of becoming a regional benchmark for attracting investment for creative industries and exporting digital and technological services," explained Minister Hayem.
During the ceremony, Mr. Tang said: "I am pleased to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Economy and to reaffirm our commitment to assisting El Salvador in the development of a new national IP strategy."
The signing ceremony was also attended by Ambassador Ana Patricia Benedetti, Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the World Trade Organization.
