Effective protection of Adidas, Puma, CAT and Billabong IP rights
Nearly USD 13 thousand in counterfeited products of clothing brands and cinematographic characters were seized in five commercial stores located in downtown Arequipa, Peru's second most populous city and capital of the southern Arequipa Region.

Bags, briefcases, knapsacks and lunch packs of renewed brands Adidas, Puma, CAT, Billabong, Frozen and Spiderman were among the counterfeited products which were illegally commercialized, infringing Peru’s Industrial Property Law (Legislative Decree No. 823 of April 23, 1996).

During 2017 the Peruvian IP Office (Indecopi) seized up to USD 8 million in counterfeited merchandise, mostly of Asian origin. The country has been actively working in awareness campaigns to prevent users of buying counterfeited products, while also warning about the economic and legal effects of the importation and commercialization into national territory of such products.
