By Eproint

On May 14, 2024, El Salvador held a forum titled "Investment Opportunities in El Salvador" in Washington D.C. The forum aimed to present El Salvador as a potential destination for regional and international investment.

The forum was organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and El Salvador's Investment and Export Promotion Agency (Invest El Salvador). Participation from both the Salvadoran and United States governments included high-level officials, indicating a shared interest in fostering economic ties.

Representatives from the private sector and multilateral organizations also attended the forum. This broader participation provided a more comprehensive view of El Salvador's investment climate.

A presentation by AES El Salvador highlighted the country's progress towards a diversified energy mix, including renewable sources. This focus on clean energy could be of interest to potential investors.

The forum serves as a platform for El Salvador to present its investment potential to a wider audience. The extent to which this translates to increased foreign investment remains to be seen.
