El Salvador in need of market research
According to experts El Salvador hasn´t take advantage of the European Union-Central America Association Agreement because of a lack of market research.

David Cabrera, CEO of food company AgroConsultoría, said to La Prensa Gráfica that Salvadoran exporters will only increase trade to Europe if thet get to know consumer preferences throughout different areas of the continent.

"Exports to the EU depend mainly about knowledge and information. We need to know very country´s trends and the way European consumers purchase", explained Cabrera, who suggests companies to first select their primary markets and then set forth researches in those places.

Ramón Tejeiro, head of international technical assistance Regional Support Project for Central American Economic Integration and Implementation Partnership Agreement, also urged Salvadoran companies to try to transform themselves from raw material exporters into producers, innovating with promotion and packaging.

The EU and the Central American Association Agreement relies on political dialoque, cooperation and trade, which been provisionally applied since 1st October 2013 with El Salvador.

According to an EU press release, "the bulk of most Central America countries trade is with the USA and Latin America, and it is only recently that the region has actively sought to increase its trade with Europe and Asia". Between 2008 and 2012 goods between the EU and Central America has increase significantly, by 15% in average.
