El Salvador in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026

The Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026, published by StartupBlink, is one of the most visible international rankings used to measure the strength and growth of startup ecosystems around the world. The report evaluates countries and cities according to factors such as startup quantity, ecosystem quality, funding activity, business environment, and international visibility

According to StartupBlink’s ecosystem data and regional coverage associated with the 2026 report, El Salvador reached:

-#80 globally among countries

-#10 in Latin America

-#4 in Central America

The country’s principal startup hub, San Salvador, also recorded significant growth in the ranking. StartupBlink’s city profile states that San Salvador grew +520.4% in 2025, placing it around the top 300 startup cities worldwide.

The country’s rise was linked to regulatory modernization, digital innovation initiatives, and international visibility around technology and financial experimentation. One report stated that StartupBlink attributed the growth to “less bureaucracy,” “better legal frameworks,” and “a more agile regulatory environment.

The ranking is designed to compare startup ecosystems worldwide at both country and city level. Governments, investors, entrepreneurs, universities, and economic development organizations use the report to evaluate ecosystem performance and international competitiveness.
