El Salvador records largest increases in e-commerce interactions
E-commerce services in Central American markets have clearly picked up, with El Salvador recording the largest increases in e-commerce interactions. The finding is part of an analysis by CentralAmericaData, a business information website, which projected trends in demand in the short and long term, for different products, sectors and markets operating in the region.

“In El Salvador, since February 2019 the interest in e-commerce services reflected in the long-term trend, registers a sustained rise, and in the case of the short-term trend, this rebounded from mid-January 2020,” the tracking states.

The most current data from the International Telecommunication Union shows internet penetration of 38% in the country, an increase of 78% from 2015. Penetration of wi-fi networks is also increasing and therefore access to internet in places like restaurants, malls, and schools is more common.
