El Salvador to join Guatemala-Honduras customs union
Salvadoran President Salvador Sánchez Cerén announced that in an effort to promote a "deep integration" in Central America, El Salvador will join "immediately" the customs union that its neighbors Honduras and Guatemala formed in June.

The customs union is "a path that our brothers in Guatemala and Honduras had already started and now El Salvador has decided to join it immediately", said Sánchez Cerén at a press conference with his colleagues Juan Orlando Hernández from Honduras and Jimmy Morales from Guatemala.

"Within a period of no more than 90 days, we have established the goal of ensuring agile border procedures through a single migratory control from the country of departure, which will help to increase people transit", said Morales, who also stressed that the union will improve the transit of goods across borders.
