Eletrobras Becomes Axia Energia: Dannemann Siemsen Leads Legal Rebranding Process
By Dannemann Siemsen

Eletrobras, the largest electric-power company in Latin America operating across energy generation, transmission and commercialization, has officially changed its name to Axia Energia. The company, in which the federal government remains the majority shareholder, plays a strategic role in Brazil’s electricity sector and contributes significantly to the country’s economic development and energy security.
According to a securities filing, Eletrobras’s shares listed in São Paulo under the ticker “ELET3” will change to “AXIA3” starting November 10, 2025. The company has stated that the name change will not impact any contractual, business or regulatory commitments previously established. By changing its ticker from “ELET3” to “AXIA3”, the company signals a new chapter — but ensures continuity in obligations and operations.
The strong market share in generation and transmission underlines the company’s strategic importance in Brazil’s energy infrastructure.
The new name – “Axia Energia” – removes the explicit reference to Brazil in the brand, a move aligned with Eletrobras’s shift following its privatization process (completed mid-2022), although the Brazilian government continues to hold almost 30% of its total shares.
Eletrobras is responsible for approximately 17% of Brazil’s power-generation capacity and about 37% of the total transmission lines in the national interconnected system. Its installed assets include 81 plants: 47 hydroelectric, 33 wind and one solar.
In recent years, the company has made strategic moves to distance itself from state-company associations — for example, selling its stake in the state-run nuclear energy company.
Dannemann Siemsen is proud to have been responsible for the legal aspects of the rebranding project from Eletrobras to Axia Energia. The work involved a strategic and multidisciplinary approach, including extensive rights-clearance efforts in Brazil and abroad.
The project was led by partners Gustavo Piva de Andrade and Victor Kronemberger.
“It was an extremely interesting and challenging project. We are honoured to have worked with Axia and Tátil to enable the legal structure for the launch of this fantastic brand,” says Gustavo Piva de Andrade.
Tátil Design, the creative agency behind the new Axia Energia brand, led the conceptual and visual aspects of the rebranding.
A project of this magnitude reinforces Dannemann Siemsen’s commitment to combining legal certainty with business vision, and to strengthen the identity and positioning of major brands. Successfully executing such a complex rebranding with cross-jurisdictional rights clearances further underscores Dannemann Siemsen expertise in high-stakes corporate and brand-law.
