Venezuela’s Intellectual Property Office (SAPI, for its Spanish acronym) highlighted its work during the COVID-19 pandemic, underlying new online processes and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as part of a nationwide effort to help inventors.“We want to protect and encourage creativity,” stated Ricardo Javier Sánchez, General Director of SAPI, during his participation in the National Congress for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, an annual activity organized to stimulate national production.
Among the focal points of his presentation was the reduce of time frames for trademark and patent registrations and the exoneration of pay fees for SMEs.
"We have made a great effort in recent months to help inventors, scientists, industries and companies that invest in technology and that have technological development,” Sánchez stated.
Sánchez also explained the benefits of the Intellectual Property system to protect innovative products and services, increase the visibility of them on the market; and distinguishing them from the competition.
