Exports of goods increased 9.2% in 2017
Uruguayan exports of goods, including those made from free economic zones (FZE), totaled USD 9,058 million in 2017, an increase of 9.2% with respect to 2016. The figure shows the highest growth since 2011 and ends a period of 3 years of stagnation of Uruguayan external sales, according to the report published on January 2 by Uruguay XXI, the government´s institute for investment and promotion exports.

Exports of soybeans, wood, pulp and meat had the greatest positive impact on the increase of 2017, while the sales of beverage concentrate and wheat registered reductions that had the highest negative incidences in the year.

According to the projections prepared by Uruguay XXI, Uruguayan exports of goods would grow in the order of 1.5% in 2018.
