Fast lane for free and secure trade in Central America

The test was coordinated by both countries Customs administrations at the border point of La Hachadura, El Salvador, and Pedro de Alvarado, Guatemala.
The fast lane looks to enhance border and trade chain security while making cross-border commercial shipments simpler and subject to fewer delays.
Since 2018 El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras are part of the Northern Triangle customs union, an integrated economic bloc focused on free transit of goods across the region, while generating employment, increasing trade opportunities and improving regional security.
The hub is still under development and trying to reduce time spent at customs, aiming at faster procedures and waiting for the completion of infrastructure projects that will further ease the transportation of goods across Central America.
