Fast track examination for Peruvian inventors

Fast track examination for Peruvian inventors
Peruvian inventors can now patent their creations quickly in the patent offices of the countries that make up the PROSUR Cooperation System: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. This is possible thanks to the signing of a Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program between the National Institute for Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) of Peru and its South American counterparts.

PPH speeds up the examination process for corresponding applications filed in different intellectual property offices, as patent offices agreed that when an applicant receives a final ruling from a first patent office that at least one claim is allowed, the applicant may request fast track examination of corresponding claims in a corresponding patent application that is pending in a second patent office.

After this agreement, Indecopi is on a par with the most important intellectual property offices worldwide, anchoring its view of improving the efficiency of patenting processes.
