First Appellation of Origin - El Salvador
The first Appellation of Origin granted to El Salvador Government on January 25, 2010 is CAFÉ APANECA-ILAMATEPEC & Design for coffee products from a region located at El Salvador´s departments of Ahuachapán, Sonsonate and Santa Ana.

After a complete research of various potential areas of the country´s coffee plantations, the chosen area is Apaneca-Ilamatepec because of the weather, history and coffee traditions. This region has also been declared a biosphere world reserve by UNESCO.

With the new appellation of origin consumers are certain that the product is original and unique and it is possible to follow every step of the cultivation, production and transformation processes which integrate a high level of consciousness, social and economic development of the area.
