Global clothing manufacturer announces new plant in Guatemala
With an approximate investment of approximately USD 400 million, Korean company Sae-A Trading Co. Ltd., headquartered in Seoul, will build in Guatemala a high-tech industrial complex of chemical fiber, weaving and dyeing for the production of polyester.

According to a press release from Guatemala’s Ministry of Economy, the project will be fully operational in three years, joining Sae-A Trading current Guatemalan operation of 71 knit lines (Texpia l, ll, lll) established in 1998 in Mixco, Colonia San Ignacio, which employs 5,000 workers in a 62,692㎡ plant.

From a national manufacturer in Korea, Sae-A Trading has become a global clothing company with more than 60,000 workers in 10 countries across four continents. The main goal of its future plant in Guatemala plan is to benefit from the country's proximity to the United States market, that demands large volumes of polyester. According to studies from Guatemala’s private sector, the investment could mean the creation of 2,000 direct jobs.
