The Paraguayan soup is similar to corn bread; the locro is a hearty thick stew popular along the Andes mountain range; the vorí vorí is a thick yellow soup with little balls made of cornmeal, corn flour, and cheese; and the yopará is a plate made from corn and beans.
The four dishes, their recipes, the knowledge and practices transmitted from generation to generation and the material and
immaterial documents associated with them area “a cultural manifestation” of the country, states the resolution.
“We are happy to contribute to the defense of the cultural heritage of Paraguay. The gastronomic heritage is as important as the musical or the historical”, said Fernando Griffith, minister of the National Secretariat of Culture.
