Greater IP protection for Bolivian authors

By PPO Abogados

The Bolivian Writers Association (Escribo) signed an agreement with the International Authors Forum (IAF), which will allow Bolivian authors to project their work globally. The agreement allows the exchange of legal knowledge, access to international events and training and specialization workshops that currently are exclusive for IAF members.

Escribo is a collective that brings together Bolivian authors and publishers. The International Authors Forum was incorporated under the UK Companies Act 2006 as a private company limited by guarantee. It is a membership body for organizations representing authors all over the world.

According to the agreement, Bolivian authors will be able to participate in international forums organized by the IAF to discuss legal and social topics regarding authors and copyrights; Escribo will also receive advice for working towards author-friendly policies and regulations with national institutions in Bolivia. Escribo representatives stated to La Razón that the whole collaboration will translate into the IAF helping provide greater protection of intellectual property for Bolivian authors.
