Growers request to be considered Regulatory Council
The Villa Rica Coffee appellation of origin has been recognized two years ago, and in case the organized growers are named Regulatory Council they will be able to manage the appellation of origin in order to guide and guard that the production of such coffee meets the standards and guidelines established in its regulatory norm, keep its quality and promote its consumption and positioning in the national and international marketplace.

The President of INDECOPI Hebert Tassano Velaochaga confirmed the commitment of such institution to work with the growers and producers of the eight appellations of origin that currently exist in Peru.

He also announced that INDECOPI is taking the necessary steps before WIPO in order to protect the Villa Rica Coffee appellation of origin in the country members of the Lisbon Agreement, which total 27 countries.

The current eight Peruvian appellations or origin are: Pisco, Giant White Corn from Cuzco, Chulucanas (ceramics), Pallar from Ica, Loche from Lambayeque, Machu Picchu Coffee – Huadquiña, Maca Junín - Pasco and Villa Rica Coffee.
