Guatemala Joins DesignClass
By Mayora IP

Since January 29, 2024, the Registry of Intellectual Property of Guatemala (RPI-GT) is part of DesignClass and will use and accept the list of terms from the harmonised database of product indications (HDBPI).
Following Guatemala's decision to use HDBPI, there are now 18 IP offices outside the European Union in DesignClass that use and accept the terms from this harmonised database. With this incorporation, the total number of participating IP offices increases to 44.
DesignClass contributes to the easy and effective design research in 30 different languages, as well as the classification of product names in design protection. Based on the Locarno Classification, it helps users search the harmonised product indications database for product indications that best match the products for which they want to register a design.
The Locarno Classification is an international classification for industrial designs.
