Guatemala keeps pace with international design trends
Over 100 buyers from Canada, the United States, Mexico, France, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom attended in Guatemala the “Handmade Products” fair, an exhibition of local handicrafts that looks to promote the path of Guatemalan designers and creators into the world’s markets.

The 12th edition of the exhibition, which took place from September 24 to 25, 2019, added this year specific activities related to Intellectual Property: four forums and conferences aimed at updating exhibitors and visitants on protecting products, business competitiveness, electronic commerce and the process of building a brand.

“The fair has become a showcase of high fashion collections made with environmentally sustainable materials and techniques. It’s a reference not only in Guatemala but in all Central America”, sated Luisa Villavicencio, president of the Handmade Commission of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (Agexport).

Villavicencio explained that Agexport activities have helped placing Guatenalan handmade products in international markets, specially indigenous related products that answer both local manufacturing traditions and international export standards and design trends.
