Guatemala officially launched its customs modernization plan
Guatemala officially launched its strategic plan to renovate its national customs with the presentation of the Program of Integral Customs Modernization (MIAD) 2019-2023. The program, in charge of the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT), projects more than USD 50 million in investments for technology, infrastructure, security and human resources through the next five years.

“We need to get out of the hole in which the Guatemalan customs system has fell and promote its modernization with the support of the private sector”, said Abel Cruz, head of the Guatemalan Treasury.

In this regard, Cruz assured that with the new program the county will be able to "have a sustainable, renewed, transparent and automated institution".
