Guatemala promotion agency receives Congress support
The creation in Guatemala of a public agency responsible of the promotion of exports, tourism and investments in the country received a huge boost from the Economy Commission of the Guatemalan Congress, which announced its support for the project in an official statement.

"The fact that such an important initiative has the great majority of signatures from the Economic Commission members, which is made up of different political parties, shows us that there is unity and congruence in the project”, said Economy Minister Acisclo Valladares Urruela.

The Guatemalan Institute for Trade Promotion, Competitiveness, Productivity, Investment, Country Brand and Market Intelligence (ProGuatemala) looks to emulate other regional agencies in charge of working both with public and private sectors to promote a country. Through foreign offices and the design of a Country Brand, ProGuatemala will advise and support local and foreign companies in and trade activities, marketing strategies and legal information, among other activities.

"We are still in time to approve this project in 2018 and start it in 2019 to begun generating work and economic reactivation”, Valladares Urruela added.
